Our Story
Founded in Stockholm in 1982. Since 1995, based in the vibrant student city of Uppsala, Sweden. Now, also represented in the United States to support American students on their journey to study medicine abroad.
It started in 1982
It all began over four decades ago with a simple idea: to make high-quality international education more accessible to Scandinavian students in an honest and fully transparent manner.
What started as a small office in Sweden, helping students study abroad in Europe, has grown into an international network under the name EduPlanet, connecting future doctors from around the world with leading medical universities across Europe. Today, our offices are located in the United States, Sweden, and Norway.
We have since become one of the largest and leading agencies for medical studies abroad. Over the years, thousands of students have taken this path, earning degrees in Medicine, Dentistry, and Veterinary Studies while experiencing life in some of the world’s most vibrant student cities.
Our story later expanded across the Atlantic to the United States under the name Medical Study Abroad (MDS). With one of our co-founders serving as the U.S. representative, a physician who completed medical school in Europe and returned to the United States for residency training, Medical Study Abroad was founded with a clear purpose: to give back. Having personally navigated the challenges of studying medicine abroad and returning to the U.S., she created this initiative to guide American students through the same journey with clarity, honesty, and support.
Our mission has always remained the same: to guide each student with honesty, care, and expertise, from their first inquiry to the moment they begin their studies abroad. Central to this mission is our belief that professional guidance should not cost a fortune. Together, these values form the core of our services, placing business ethics and integrity first, principles we see as an essential part of our Scandinavian heritage.
